Unrecorded 1860 (Gouby D+d; Freeman 2+D) – inverted V over A
What appears at first glance to be an inverted V instead of an A in VICTORIA is probably the result of the A being repaired with an overstruck inverted V punch. Under magnification there appears to be a clear and sharp but very thin crossbar to the A, similar to the residual 8 of the 1861 F30 6 over 8. Arguably not a recordable variety, it is nevertheless quite interesting and collectable.
Example 1
The cross bar is barely visible in the above photograph but clearly and sharply visible at an angle under a magnifying glass.
