1870 BP1870Am (Gouby J+g; Freeman 6+G) with raised dot
On some specimens of 1870 F60 there is a circular “dot” on the reverse, near the Y of PENNY and similar to the 1897 F147 variety. Michael Gouby has recorded it as BP1870Am and although I don’t really regard this as an authentic variety, I am including it as it has proved to be scarce and collectable, and of interest to penny collectors.
