1862 BP1862H (Gouby J+g; Freeman 6+G with B over R in BRITT) (R19)
Note: B of BRITT struck over an R – Very Rare (~10 examples)
Presumably caused by a bodged or erroneous repair to either the B (or the R which shows signs of repair to the front “leg”).
In the 2003 edition of his book “The Early British Bronze ‘Bun’ Pennies 1860 to 1865 and their Varieties”, John Jerrams’ census (up to September 2001) recorded only 1 specimen.
