1913 F175 (Gouby A+b; Freeman 1+B)
Although only rated by Freeman as rarity N (1-2 million) in the 1970 edition of “The Bronze Coinage of Great Britain”, this pre-decimalisation rating now seems a gross over-estimate given the paucity of specimens available on the market in the 21st century. I have decided to include this variety within this website alongside the scarcer F176 in order to build up a picture of the current population.
The key identifiers are that (for obverse A) the colon between the A of GRA and the B of BRITT is closer to the A than the B, and for (for reverse b) the Penny of PENNY points to a gap between teeth and there are more border teeth (13 teeth from the 1 to the 3 with the first date figure 1 over a gap between teeth) than reverse a.
