1882H F111 (BP1882K) (Gouby P+p; Freeman 11+M) – 2 over 1 [rarity R11]
Obverses P and R (Freeman 11 and 12) are very similar and one of the easiest ways to distinguish between them is the fact that R & I of BRITT do not touch at the base & TT do not touch at the top on Obverse P, whereas and R & I of BRITT do touch at the base & TT do touch at the top on Obverse R (see below).

Freeman only records this die-pairing as the 2 over 1 overdate variety F111. In footnote 23 he states that “all specimens of no.111 are believed to be 1882/1. Only small sections of the ‘1’ are visible, as it seems to have been partially erased from the die.” Gouby, however, also records the non-overdate version (as BP1882H) and rates it more common than the overdate.
