Unrecorded 1926 (Modified Effigy obverse + trial/pattern reverse) (R20?)
Example 1
This coin has the Modified Effigy obverse used in 1926 and 1927 but has a trial or experimental reverse which appears to be a hybrid of Gouby reverse b (Freeman B) and Gouby d (Freeman C) in that it has the larger figure of Britannia seen up to and including 1926, but has 184 longer border teeth as seen on the reverse with the smaller Britannia used from 1927 to 1936 rather than the 163 teeth of reverse b. These longer teeth seem to have been engraved over an existing reverse b die since they cover the right hand trident prong and there also appears to be a guideline inside the teeth (see below). This is probably a trial piece, produced during a period of experimentation that also produced unrecorded 1922 and 1926 patterns (both on this site).
